The in-hand salary of Indian Army Agniveers starts at Rs.30,000 per month and increases with each year of service. Along with this basic pay, Agniveers set aside 30% for a fund, which the government also matches with a 30% contribution. In-Hand Salary: Agniveer Army personnel receive 70% of their total salary as in-hand pay, which is transferred directly to their account each month.
Corpus Fund Contributions: The remaining 30% of their salary is directed to the Agniveer Corpus Fund, matched by the Government, resulting in a substantial amount accumulated by the end of the four-year term. This fund, including government contributions, totals approximately Rs.10.04 lakhs (excluding interest) after four years.
In addition to the base agniveer salary, Agniveer personnel are entitled to various allowances and benefits designed to meet the operational needs of the Indian Army and provide financial security.
Risk and hardship allowances are applicable as per the Indian army norms. These allowances vary depending on the nature of the deployment location and the associated risks.
Agniveer personnel are entitled to receive dress and travel allowances, ensuring they have the necessary apparel and travel support throughout their service tenure.
Annual Leave: Agniveer personnel are entitled to 30 days of annual leave per year.
Sick Leave: Sick leave is granted based on medical advice, ensuring personnel can recover adequately if they face health issues.
For the entire service period, Agniveer members have access to medical facilities at Service Hospitals and can access Canteen Stores Department (CSD) provisions.
Agniveer personnel are entitled to receive various benefits after the completion of the service tenure. Here are some important benefits they are entitled to.
Agniveer personnel are provided with a non-contributory life insurance cover worth Rs. 48 lakhs throughout their engagement period.
Upon completing their four-year tenure, up to 25% of Agniveer candidates may join the regular cadre of the Armed Forces through a performance-based selection process. Those chosen undergo additional training, transitioning smoothly into long-term roles with career stability, advancement opportunities, and standard pay and benefits similar to regular recruits.
Upon completing their four-year service, Agniveers who do not join the regular cadre receive a 10% reservation in other forces and organisations, ensuring diverse career opportunities. This reservation includes roles in Assam Rifles (MHA-administered field and administrative positions), Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs like BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP), the Coast Guard (coastal defence, rescue, anti-smuggling operations), and Defense Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs like HAL, BEL). This policy supports Agniveers in leveraging their skills post-service, promoting career stability and growth in sectors that align with their experience and service to the nation.
Upon completion of their four-year service, Agniveers are entitled to the Seva Nidhi Package, a one-time payout. This package includes their monthly 30% salary contributions to the Agniveer Corpus Fund, which the government matches. The total contribution to the fund amounts to Rs. 5.02 lakh from both the individual and the government, resulting in a final payout of approximately Rs.10.04 lakhs after four years, excluding interest.

The type and amount of compensation vary depending on the circumstances of death, classified into three categories:
Category X: Death due to natural causes unrelated to service duties.
Category Y: Death attributable to or aggravated by service conditions, including training-related accidents.
Category Z: Death due to hostile actions, attacks, or during operational activities.
For Category Y and Z deaths, entitlements include:
Insurance cover of Rs. 48 lakhs.
One-time ex-gratia payment of Rs. 44 lakhs.
Full pay for the unserved period of up to four years (with effect from the date of death), including the Seva Nidhi component.
The balance in the individual’s Seva Nidhi fund, along with government contributions and interest from the Agniveer Corpus Fund, as of the specified date.
For Category X deaths, only the ?48 lakhs insurance cover and Seva Nidhi fund balance (with interest) are provided.
If personnel is classified under the Permanent low medical category (LMC), the authorities will calculate compensation based on their percentage of disability and how it relates to their condition. To determine the level of disability or inability to function, the following method will be used to calculate the disability compensation.
