How much reservation do ex servicemen get in center government job?

Soldiers in the Indian Army have to serve for at least 15 years, only after that they can take retirement from the Indian Army. Generally, the age of the jawans at the time of retirement is between 35 years and 45 years and in this phase of life they need government jobs the most. This is the reason why the central government provides ex-servicemen quota in government jobs so that the soldiers of the Indian army can be settled after retirement.

Reservation in central government jobs

As per Department of Personnel & Training notification number 36034/1/2006 Esst (Resi) dated 4 October 2012, Ex-Servicemen Reservation in Central Government Jobs is as per the table given below.

As shown in the above table that in central government jobs, ex servicemen quota in group C posts is 10% and in group D posts ex servicemen get 20% reservation. There is no provision of Ex-serviceman quota in Group B post of Central Government Jobs. Central Government Jobs are generally recruited by the Service Selection Commission (SSC) in which Ex-Servicemen quota is given in Group C and Group D posts.

Ex servicemen reservation in railway jobs

Recruitment in railways is done by the Railway Recruitment Board, which comes out almost every year to fill vacancies in the railways. Reservation in Ex-Servicemanco Railways is also available according to the table given above. Ex-servicemen get 10% reservation in Railway Group C posts and 20% in Group D posts.

Ex Servicemen Reservation in PSU Jobs

First of all let us tell you what is CPSU (Central Public Sector Undertaking). The company which is under the central government is called Central Public Sector Undertaking. There is also ex-servicemen reservation in CPSU (Central Public Sector Undertaking) company jobs.

There is 14.5% Ex-Servicemen Reservation in Group C posts of CPSU Jobs and 24.5% in Group D posts. Given below is the list of CPSU company in which Ex-serviceman reservation is available.

Ex serviceman job terms condition

  • Ex-servicemen also get age relaxation in jobs. The age left after deducting his total service from the age of the retired soldier should not be more than 3 years from the maximum age limit of that post. For example, the age of an ex-serviceman is 48 years and he has served in the army for 24 years, then his age will be considered as 48-24 = 24 and he can apply for all those posts whose maximum age limit is 21 years.
  • SC and ST ex servicemen get age relaxation of 8 years instead of 3 years.
  • If ex-serviceman gets job on the basis of reservation once in civil job, then he will not get ex-serviceman reservation in civil job again.
  • Priority is given to the disabled ex-servicemen in the reservation.
