The latest updates of OROP II which was pending for a long time have come. The Cabinet Committee under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved OROP II (One Rank One Pension). This information has been given by the Press Information Bureau Defense Wing through a press release on 23 December. OROP II arrear, pension hike, complete information related to the time of receipt of arrears will be given in this post.
OROP II, as per the press release, will be applicable from 01 July 2019. Those defense persons who retired before 30 June 2019 will get the benefit of this OROP revision. There are 25.13 lakh pensioners and family pensioners who will be directly benefited by this revision. Among these pensioners, there are 4.52 lakh new pensioners who are going to get benefit from this One Rank One Pension scheme.
As we mentioned above, this OROP will be applicable for Defense Pensioners from 1st July 2019. Therefore, pensioners will be given arrears from July 1, 2019 to June 2022. A total of Rs 23638 Crore will be paid by the Government of India to the defense pensioner as OROP arrears. The amount of arrears will be given in total 4 installments. Each installment will be paid to the defense pensioner every 6 months. But family pensioner, gallantry award winner will be paid arrears of OROP 2 in one go.
Although the time for the first installment of arrears has not been given in the press release. For your information, let us tell you that after July 1, 2014, defense pensioners who have taken PMR are not eligible for OROP II.

OROP II will bring an annual expenditure of about Rs 8450 crore to the Indian government every year. Friends, the revision of OROP II was pending for a long time, due to which now the Indian government has fulfilled the demand of the pensioners by implementing it.
