Armed Forces Veteran Day 14 January

Those defense persons who retire after serving in the armed forces are called Veterans. Veteran's Day is celebrated every year on 14 January. Veteran Day was started from the year 2016. Retired defense personnel are awarded medals and recognition certificates for their contribution on the occasion of Veterans Day on 14 January. 

This year Veteran's Day is being celebrated at 9 places across the country. Apart from this, the Central Government has also requested the Governor, Chief Minister and other officials of various states to celebrate 14th January as Veteran's Day across the country so that retired defense personnel can be honored for their contribution.

Now let's talk about why Veteran's Day is celebrated only on 14th January. Field Marshal K M Cariappa, the first Commander-in-Chief (CIC) of the Indian Army, retired from the army on 14 January 1953. Therefore, from January 14, 2016, Veterans Day is celebrated every year on this day. Now let's talk about Indian Army Day.

Indian Army Day 15 January

Indian Army Day is celebrated every year on 15 January. On 15 January 1949, Field Marshal K M Cariappa (then Lieutenant General) took over as the first Indian Commander in Chief (CIC) from the last British Commander in Chief, General Francis Roy Butcher. That's why Indian Army Day is celebrated every year on 15 January.

Military parade and military shows are organized in the national capital Delhi on the day of Indian Army Day. On this day, defense personnel are honored with the Sena Medal and Gallantry Award for meritorious service. On Army Day, a parade is organized at Cariappa Marg located in Delhi Cantt. Apart from this, Army Day is also celebrated at various military headquarters and other places. Every citizen of the country should salute the soldiers of the country for their sacrifice and contribution to protect the country.

In the year 2023, 75th Army Day will be celebrated in India on 15th January. Friends, every soldier, veteran and citizen of the country must know about Indian Army Day, Veteran Day, Navy Day and Air Force Day.
