4% hike in dearness allowance from July 2022

The central government revises the DA for central Govt employees every 6 months. Dearness allowance is the main part of the salary of central Govt employees. The Central Government has announced through a press release on 28 September that the DA (Dearness Allowance) of central employees has been increased by 4% from 01 July 2022. The decision to increase the DA has been made in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs.

How much dearness allowance will be received from 01 July 2022?

For your information, let us tell you that earlier in March 2022, the Central Government had increased the DA by 3%. Prior to that the dearness allowance of central employees was 31%. After increasing the DA in March, it had gone up to 34%. Dearness Allowance has increased by 4% to 38% from July 2022. After this announcement, the arrears of dearness allowance can be credited in the coming salary so that the central Govt employee can use it in the festive season.

However, it has not been announced when the arrears of DA will be disbursed. Apart from this, Diwali bonus can also be announced in the coming few days. The effect of this DA increase will be on salary of about 50 lakh central government employees and 65 lakh pensioners, including defense personnel and ESM.

How much salary will increase?

Dearness allowance is paid %  of the basic salary. There will be an increase of 4% on the basic salary and military service pay of the serving defense person while the basic pay of ESM will be increased by 4%. For example, if the basic salary of a serving defense person is Rs 34800 and military service pay is Rs 5200. In this case, there will be a 4% increase over the total of Rs 40000 on Basic Pay and Military Service Pay (34800 + 5200). That is, his dearness allowance will be Rs 1600 more and his salary will be Rs 1600 more. In this way you can calculate increase in DA on the basis of your salary.
